In this session we discuss fabric prints, color, and scale. Shari kicks things off with a look at print and color throughout history. Donna brings us her insight on the 60's and 70's with a fun look at using larger scale prints appropriately. And I'm chiming in here and there with the fabrics I love too!

Interested in the book Textile Designs book by Susan seller that Shari recommends? You can find it on Amazon here: https://larougetdelisle.com/3b65OXr

Plus we hve a fun update from Donna - Her Vogue Fabric Swatch book arrived! Watch this video to see what she got and explore all the possibilities!

Many of you asked about finding the right scale for trims and notions too. We'll save that for another discussion/topic!

Do you fear shopping online for fabric? Join us for this live chat where we talk about the things we do to solve common challenges and successfully purchase fabrics online!

I'm joined by both Shari and Donna, over zoom, for a 20 minute discussion. This is the first of three chats we'll be doing for this series. We hope you enjoy it and it helps you to feel more confident when shopping online too!

My best suggestion for overcoming the "touch & feel" challenge is to create a swatch book (or textile kit). You'll fine a PDF download available so you can make your own. It's in the SWC Bonuses section.

Looking for a resource for fabric swatches? Here are a few:

1. Vogue Fabrics has a swatch club you can subscribe to.

2. Mood Fabrics is the site that I got my swatches from, they no longer have a swatch club subscription, but they do offer swatches for €1.50 or they let you add them for free when ordering other items.

The site we mentioned with the video clips for the various fabrics is Fabric Wholesale Direct. Even if you don't want to order from them, this might be a good resource for seeing the fabric drape, stretch, or feel.

Be sure to download the Ultimate Resource Guide as well! It has lists and links to many of the items we recommend including some of our fabric sites for buying fabric!]]>

Hi Everyone!

Join us for a month of interactive conversations about purchasing fabric online! We'll be addressing things such as, determining the weight and appropriate scale, finding historically accurate fabrics, understanding the different types of fabric and how to pick the right fabric for the garment.

Watch this video and be sure to leave a few questions in the comments below so we can build this course topic to fit your needs!

In other news, we've moved into our new office/studio space in California! It's still chaos and we're still getting things figured out, but I really wanted to give you peek at what's been going on here! I hope you enjoyed the mini tour!
