Hi Everyone! In Part 4 we wrap things up with a look at using trims to create 3D embellishments. This is a technique that mesmerizes me, I haven't done it that often and am still perfecting my skills in this area too! Melinda, the designer of the Melody Valerie Couture brand, provides us with a look at a technique called passementerie and I have selected a few other tutorial videos that show how to use silk ribbon to create accents like flowers!

Watch the passementerie tutorial video below. I think this would be a great technique to use to add a graphic word as an embellishment to the front of a tee or hoodie. Something similar to this top I saw while shopping one day!

Week Four Task:

  • Watch the videos and practice a few of the techniques demonstrated. I encourage you to go for it, try something new! Adding a simple flower or word to your garment can really change the overall look!
  • Share with the group some examples of effective uses of trims on your garments.
  • Jump over the SWC Facebook Group for conversation and project sharing.

Tutorial Videos for silk ribbon embroidery are posted below. The 3rd one shows great techniques, but I apologize for all the ads, just click, skip add after the add starts to continue with the video.
