This dress works best if you use a lightweight knit for the fashion fabric, and a mid-weight material with a little stretch as a lining. For the red dress example, we used a light wool jersey, and lined it with a spandex-blend fabric. The pattern example is made from a very light knit, with a cotton/ spandex lining. Looking for a stylish new dress for your 18 inch doll?  This fun, spunky little frock is a great choice for a special occasion! This 18 inch doll clothes PDF pattern includes two dress bodice options:

View A (Cover Dress) is a charming sundress with princess seams and double shoulder strap detail. The bodice is fully lined with straps enclosed in the shoulder seams.

View B (Pink Dress) is a stylish overbodice to showcase a fabulous stretch lace. This design includes long sleeves sewn with french seams and is sewn to the delicate under-bodice (described in view A).

From the back, the only noticeable feature about her was that she wore a dress, in the crowd of friends wearing shorts and tanks. Skill Level: Easy/beginner. You will need the basic understanding of how to use a sewing machine and be familiar with sewing straight seams. Snowdrop looks gorgeous in a mid-weight cotton, but would also work well in linen or even a lightweight corduroy, with lightweight cotton or poly for a nice lining.

You could use almost any sheer for the yoke, but if you are a little nervous, we recommend starting with a crisper sheer like silk or polyester organza. More confident seamstresses could get great success with chiffons and georgettes.
